How to Make Your Hair Straighter

January 4, 2011 by ds_65371 Leave a Comment

Many women long for sleek, straight hair. If you happen to be one of the lucky ones, this straight style is easy to accomplish. However, in many cases, achieving the straight locks you desire requires a bit of extra effort. While straightening your hair will likely take some work on your part, you can do it with relative ease after a little practice with straightening techniques.

Step 1

Coat your locks in mousse to keep them straight. Before you tackle the task of straightening, increase the likelihood that your straight style has staying power. Slather mousse onto your hair while it is still wet after your shampoo.

Step 2

Blow out your hair to take it from wet to straight. If your hair is nearly straight, blowing out your locks may be sufficient to produce the straightness you desire. As you blow-dry your hair, run a round-barreled curling iron through your locks to straighten them and prevent frizzing.

Step 3

Flat-iron your hair for a temporarily straight style. A flat iron may be necessary if your hair is a bit frizzy or resists straightening. To use a flat iron, press your hair between the flattening plates and run the iron from the root of your hair to the tip. As with any heated hair-styling tool, be careful not to scorch your hair while trying to achieve your desired look.

Step 4

Relax your hair through permanent hair straightening. Just as you can achieve a permanently curly style by perming your hair, you can make your hair permanently straighter by relaxing it. Use an at-home relaxing kit, diligently following directions, as the kit contains chemicals that can be toxic. Alternately, have your relaxing treatment done professionally.
