I Always Root for the Underdog!
I’ve always loved the stories behind businesses. How did this company get to where they are today? The bottom line is that most start with oneperson & a great idea. An idea that means the world to the inventor, something that moves them into action. Without experience or knowledge, this passion can lead to a life changing business. Here’s one of my favestories that I mention in my book, Your Idea, Inc. Hope you get inspired!
The San Francisco based Method Company’s cleaning products can be found in just about every mass market retailer today. But this 100 million dollar company began just as the internet’s dot com bubble had burst and the Bay area was in a serious recession. The founders, Eric Ryan and Adam Lowry, who began mixing batches of cleaning formula in their tub, found themselves drowning in debt. Having maxed out their credit cards and months overdue on paying vendors, they kept pounding the pavement. With constant focus on their goal, within a year they were selling their method line in 800 stores including Target. Despite the recession, these two entrepreneurs have “cleaned up!”
