Listen to Your Inner Voice

Sometimes you gotta create what you want to be a part of.” Geri Weitzman

I get calls and emails from moms seeking advice on helping them to feel productive/creative once their youngest child is in school full day. They are used to having just small windows of opportunity throughtout the day and now they have a full six hours to call their own. Time for exercise and misc errands, then what? Here’s my suggestions for finding something that makes you feel creative & independent and could possibly generate some income.
1. Think about what makes you happy. What do you like to talk about? Food, beauty products, running, books? Think about how you can enjoy those things more. Join a book club or take a class.
2. Join in on social media that focus on your interests, start to communicate more than just observe. Become active in that social community. On Twitter for example you can follow other like minded people and chat in real time about those shared interests.
3. Start a blog of your own if you have a lot to say.
4. Become a rep for a line of products that you really like. Reps work their own hours and have independence.
5. Give back to wonderful causes in your community and meet new people while helping out.
6. Develop your own line of products and sell it on a small scale at first, at a local farmers market or through at home parties or online sites like www.etsy.com or www.opensky.com
7. Enjoy the moms that you’ve spent “kid” time with and do something that’s for the moms.
8. Research something that you’ve been wanting to do for a while.
9. Listen to your inner voice…You may have been ignoring your own desires for a while, listen to what you’re craving.
10. Find it OR create it. Indulge your creative side and see what you can do for yourself now! ENJOY!
