Wedding Updo Hairstyles for Kids

Even though your little girl isn’t the one getting married, she will still want a beautiful and elegant hairstyle for a friend or relative’s wedding. An updo is a hairstyle perfect for a special occasion. Make the updo even more special by using sparkling bobby pins or adding a tiara to the top of your daughter’s head.

Curly High Pony

Brush your daughter’s hair over the scalp and gather into a high ponytail. Secure the ponytail in place at the top of her head with an elastic band. Divide the hair in the ponytail into four or five sections. Wrap each section around a 1-inch wide curling iron and hold for 10 seconds. Spritz the hair with hair spray and release to create ringlets that cascade out of the ponytail. Adorn the base of the ponytail with a sparkly cuff barrette or a tiara.

Braided Buns

If your daughter has very long hair, gather it into braids for an elegant updo. Divide the hair into two sections. Braid each section and secure the ends with an elastic. Twist each braid into a bun and secure with bobby pins. You can also divide the hair into three sections and create three braids than you then braid together and twist into a large, intricate-looking bun.

Half Updo

Some may argue that a full updo is too mature for a little girl. Meet them halfway by styling your daughter’s hair into a half updo. Divide the hair into two sections, one on top and one below. Brush the top section back over the scalp and gather into a ponytail. Twist into a bun and secure in place. Use a curling iron to curl the bottom portion of hair into gentle waves or ringlets. Slide a floral or butterfly barrette into her hair just above the ear.

Twisted Roll

Part your girl’s hair slightly to the left of center and divide into two sections, one on each side of the head. Twist the hair in the left section, bringing it up along the side of the head. Pin it to the side of the head from the temple to the center of the back of the head. Twist the hair on the right side and pin it to the head. Criss-cross the ends of the hair in the center of the back of the head and tuck into the rolled hair. Use bobby pins to secure the ends in place. Finish the hairstyle by placing a pretty barrette on top of the criss-crossed ends.
