4 Quick & Easy Summer Hairstyles

PhD: “Style in a minute…it only takes a minute to look your best.”

This summer, loose and tousled is the way to go…for day AND evening.  Look like you’re having fun in the sun and not trying too hard.  Here are a few of our favorite looks (with step by step instructions) for our California gals on the go.

Textured Tresses (long or short)

1. On towel dried hair apply a texture or salt spray (Surf Spray from Bumble & Bumble).

2. Twist hair and air dry or diffuse.

3. Apply a hair oil (Pequi Oil from Couture Colour) on the ends for shine and finish.

High Pony

1. At the end of the day, apply a little dry shampoo (Water Killer by Evo) to roots.

2. Pull back into a high pony at or below the crown using your hands not a brush.

3. Secure with a snag free band (Blax).

4. Finish with a smoothing serum on the ends (End Doctor by Evo).

Tucked High Pony

1. Use above technique for High Pony.

2. Separate pony into two sections .

3. Wrap section one loosely around the base of the pony, tucking the end.

4. Secure with two or more bobby pins at 11 and 5 o’clock.

5. Wrap section two loosely around the base.

6. Secure with two or more bobby pins at 1 and 7 o’clock.

7. Lightly pull and loosen the wrapped hair to expand the bun.

8. Finish lightly with a hairspray (Firm Finish by MOP).

Tousled Tucked Low Pony (casual is the name of the game)

1. Prep the hair using the above technique for Textured Tresses.

2. Pull hair back,  on either side or center to a low loose pony at or above the nape with a snag free band (Blax).

3. Loosely and effortlessly braid the pony if hair is long enough.

4. Secure the end of the braid with a Blax.

5. Wrap hair loosely around the base of the pony, eventually tucking the end in.

6. Secure with bobby pins at 1, 5, 7 and 11 o’clock (each corner), more if needed.

7. Lightly pull and loosen the wrapped hair to expand the bun.

8. Pull a few random pieces out of the pony to frame the face slightly.

9. Finish with a light hairspray (Elnette).
