Vacation Design Inspiration

August 24, 2011 by JenPorter Leave a Comment

Hi! I?m Jenifer Porter, interior designer and owner of boutique interior design company Chic Living LA. I?m happy to be posting my first Modern Mom blog!

It?s summer time, and you know what that means… it?s time for family vacations! I love taking my family to different exotic locations all over the world. We recently went to Cabo San Lucas, where we stayed in the beautiful Capella Pedregal resort. Being an interior designer, it was amazing to stay in such an incredibly designed place. I knew it would be gorgeous, as Oprah Winfrey raved about this place, but I didn?t expect to leave feeling so inspired by the Spanish and Mediterranean style decor.

I?ve always enjoyed sharing my unique finds from all over the world with my clients, and I?d like to share how I?d evoke the unique spirit south of the border in your home.

The private lounges of the resort are incredibly relaxing. I loved this contemporary wicker lounger that reminded me of the one I had found for a client. When you add custom cushions with my favorite Sunbrella fabric, they?re perfect.

The chandeliers are definitely the focal point for me in this room. They make the room itself feel luxurious and add a certain Mexican spice to the room. In anyones home, I think the chandelier pictured above would be stunning.

If you look closely on the bed, you?ll see a favorite accent I love using in homes. The use of Ikat inspired patterns and pillows are a great way to add color and personality to a bed. My favorite comes from Madeline Weinrib.
