How to Apply Bare Minerals Foundation

December 9, 2009 by Madison Pados Leave a Comment

Bare Minerals is a line of mineral makeup that contains natural ingredients without fillers or preservatives. The foundation resembles a powder and helps protect your skin from the sun with an SPF 15. It comes in six colors to match your skin tone–from fair to dark. Applying Bare Minerals foundation is easy, although it may take a little practice if you’re new to mineral makeup.

Step 1

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and dry it thoroughly to ensure you have clean, dry skin on which to apply your foundation

Step 2

Remove the lid from your Bare Minerals foundation. If this is your first time using the foundation, remove the white seal covering the foundation.

Step 3

Turn the lid upside down and tap a small amount of the Bare Minerals foundation directly into the lid. You don’t need very much–no more than a dime-sized amount of powder.

Step 4

Take your Bare Minerals Flawless Application brush–or any makeup brush with firm, wide bristles–and rub the bristles into the foundation in the lid. Remove any excess foundation from the brush by tapping the brush against the side of the lid.

Step 5

Apply the foundation by lightly rubbing the bristles over your face, using small, circular motions. Start around your chin and forehead and gradually move in to cover your nose and cheeks. Focus on areas of your face that need the most coverage.

Step 6

Repeat steps 3 to 5 as many times as needed to achieve your desired coverage. One application will provide light coverage, but you may need more applications, depending on your skin type. If you need to cover acne or blemishes, tap a small amount of the foundation into the lid and dip a concealer brush directly into the foundation. Dot the foundation directly onto the blemish and use the brush to blend the foundation into the surrounding skin.

Things You’ll Need

Bare Minerals Foundation Makeup brush, preferably the Bare Minerals Flawless Application brush Concealer brush, if applicable Gentle face wash Towel

Tips and Warnings

Bare Minerals recommends applying its Skin Rev-er Upper before you put on foundation to smooth out your skin and provide more even coverage. The Skin Rev-er Upper is a serum that contains glycolic acid to exfoliate the skin. This step is optional, but if you decide to use this product, put a pea-sized amount onto your fingers and spread it evenly over your face after Step 1. Wait a few minutes for it to dry and then follow the remaining steps.
