Workout DVDs for Women

December 10, 2010 by ds_50558 Leave a Comment

Workout DVD’s are about as varied as the women who use them. If you need to get moving and would prefer to do so in your living room, consider a workout DVD. With all the variety, you should be able to find one that you enjoy and that will excite you about working out day after day.

Benefits

Workout DVDs offer flexibility and fun. It may be difficult to get to the gym in a blizzard, with a sick child or on a holiday. However, workout DVDs let you work out without having to go anywhere. You can keep an eye on your kids, stay in from the weather and enjoy your workout whenever you want. They also let you try different workouts. Gyms offer a limited number of classes. With a workout DVD, you can try just about any workout.

Styles

Workout DVDs come in a variety of styles. You can choose relaxing yoga exercises or invigorating cardio workouts. Aerobic exercises range from dance workouts to circuit training. You can read about the philosophy of the instructor and often get reviews from users.

Equipment

Most workout DVDs require no more equipment than you, your DVD player and your television. Some do require additional materials, such as hand weights, a stability ball, resistance cords, a yoga mat, a yoga block or a medicine ball.

Space

Make sure you have plenty of room for your workout DVD. Move the furniture in your living room, den, office or other location so you have plenty of room to move around. Many cardio DVDs will have you dancing, jumping, hopping or kicking around. You don’t want to hit anyone or anything.

Resources

If you are struggling to find the right workout DVD for you, talk with your personal trainer or some other gym employees. Personal trainers and certified instructors know what work best for different body types and abilities. Talk with your doctor as well. He knows what your body needs and can help you choose a workout routine that is best for your needs.

What’s Best For You

After you figure out which workout style is best for you, read the reviews and information about the DVDs that interest you. See what equipment is necessary for each one. Check how long each workout lasts and make sure if can fit into your schedule. Some workout DVDs offer a variety of workouts at varying lengths, letting you shake up your routine.
