A few weeks ago, we were walked into our sons first basketball game. I looked around to say hi to the other moms and dads. But I realized I couldnt say hi because everyone had their head down in their phones. The game started, and I was shocked that still the parents were watching, but their phones were right there to look at.

I suspect I am just as weary of the buzz over Sheryl Sandberg as everyone else with a TV in their kitchen, Internet access at work, or a radio in their car. During the past two weeks alone, Sandberg has been interviewed by 60 Minutes, The Diane Rehm Show, The Washington Post, National Public Radio and other media outlets too numerous to cite, reaching well over 50 million people. She has been the subject of at least 43 million blogs, articles, Instagram posts and Twitter comments. So Ill make this quick: one observation everyone else seems to have overlooked.
Shiri Appleby Shows Off Her Baby Bump in a String Bikini
She’s due in less than a month, and Shiri Appleby sure looks ready to pop! The 34-year-old actress shared a photo of her bare baby bump on Instagram Friday, tweeting ” T minus 20 days.” Appleby, who has guest-starred in Girls (but is probably best known for her role on Roswell), is expecting her first child with fiance Jon Shook, a chef at L.A.’s Animal restaurant. The couple got engaged in July 2012 on a romantic getaway to Ventotene, Italy.
Persuading My Picky Eater
My eldest daughter, Syd, ate sashimi at age three. Devouring tentacles while slurping down pasta and squid, her nickname evolved and “Squid” has always been an excellent eater with an adventurous palate. She begged me to try chocolate covered ants and had a field day in the Harry Potter store popping Barf, Booger and “Earwax jellybeans. No doubt, shell grow up to be one of those obnoxious foodies, taking Instagram pictures of her Matcha Tiramasu or Pork Wagu.
