Weight-Lifting Workouts to Reduce Cholesterol

Pumping some iron can help lower your cholesterol. A 2009 study from West Virginia University showed that people who lifted weights lowered their bad LDL cholesterol by about 5 percent. If your cholesterol levels are high, talk to your doctor about starting a weight-lifting program to help lower your levels. Start weight lifting in 20-minute segments up to four times a week. Gradually increase the amount you lift and the duration of your workout.

Psychologically Safe Parenting

The other day my son had a sore on his lip. He has had these sores on and off throughout his life. He knows that we have medicine that will stop the spread of the virus, but he also knows that the medicine hurts. When I saw the sore, I told him that I was going to put the medicine on it. He screamed and pulled away. Eventually, after trying to reason with him, I tolds him that as much as I did not want to, his father and I would need to force him to put the medicine on because a) it would save him long-term pain, and b) it would protect others from the spread of the virus.

Former Full House actress Jodie Sweetin, 26, and Cody Herpin, her husband of less than a year, welcomed their first child, a girl, over the weekend. Zoie was delivered via C-section Saturday afternoon, and arrived weighing 8 lbs. 7 oz. She measured 21 inches in length. “Jodie and her husband and family are absolutely thrilled and in love with baby,” Jodie’s rep tells People magazine. Former Law & Order star Elisabeth Rohm, 34, also gave birth to her first child.
