Giada Sticks to Traditional Roles at Home

Giada De Laurentiis may be a premier chef and foxy Food Network star on TV, but in the privacy of her own home, she’s just Giada.

"I think it can be hard for any man to sometimes be upstaged by his wife," she explains in the February issue of Redbook. "So when I’m home, I work very hard to be Todd’s wife and Jade’s mother. I have no problem going back to those traditional roles."

De Laurentiis, 40, who is wife to Todd Thompson and mother to daughter Jade, 3, tries to keep the romance in her marriage alive by following some of her own rules.

"I try to be Giada, the young girl that he met 20 years ago and fell in love with," she told Redbook. "All men want to be treated like kings in a relationship, and I think if women don’t indulge that sometimes, their men are likely to stray and look for someone who can give that to them."

It can’t help that she’s a world renowned cook either! The way to a man’s heart is still though his stomach, after all.

We’re sure Giada whips up some delightful treats for her family when she’s being supermom at home. What’s her favorite restaurant? "Uh, my house," she admitted. "It’s more intimate. Food can connect people in a forever sort of way."
