Jen and Justin are Engaged!

Jennifer Aniston is headed back down the aisle!

The 43-year-old actress is officially engaged to her boyfriend of over a year, Justin Theroux.

“Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage,” his rep told People.

The couple – who met on the set of the comedy film “Wanderlust” – were first seen out together in May of last year.

It will be the first marriage for 41-year-old Theroux, and the second for Aniston – who was married to Brad Pitt for five years until their highly publicized split in 2005.

Interestingly, her ex is also hearing wedding bells in the near future.

Pitt and Angelina Jolie (also known as the woman who allegedly broke up Aniston and Pitt’s marriage) announced their engagement in April 2012. In fact, there were even some false rumors that they were planning a secret wedding ceremony in the south of France over the weekend.

But they’ve been together for like, seven years. So it’s not exactly a rushed engagement.

Is it possible their impending nuptials have anything to do with Jen and Justin’s big news? Several media sources have already raised this question.

Back in April, the celebrity gossip site “What Would Tyler Durden Do” snarked: “Because Jennifer Aniston would literally die if she had to sit back for the next few months and watch Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie plan their romantic storybook wedding, Aniston and her boyfriend Justin Theroux are apparently getting married too.”

While that’s a harsh way to phrase it, most people who have been dumped can probably emphathize with how much it can hurt to watch your ex move on before you.

Have you ever had this experience? Or have you ever found yourself moving too fast in a new relationship because on some level – conscious or unconscious – you’re “competing” with a former flame?
