How to Wear Fake Lashes

Eyelashes do more than protect your eyes from dirt and debris. They serve an aesthetic purpose by adding dimension, and adorning and defining the shape and size of your eyes. If you were not born with luxurious, lush or deeply pigmented eyelashes, fake lashes may be for you. While the idea of wearing fake eyelashes can sometimes conjure up a feeling of flamboyance, it does not have to be the case. In fact, some manufacturers sell fake eyelashes so lifelike that it is difficult to discern where your real lash line ends and the false one begins.

Step 1

Wash your face as you normally would using your favorite cleanser or makeup remover, paying close attention to your eye area. Rinse your face with warm water. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel.

Step 2

Stand in front of a mirror and hold one of the fake eyelash strips up to your eye. Check the length of the eyelash strip against your natural lash line.

Step 3

If the strip is too long, cut the eyelash strip to a width that matches your natural eyelash line using a pair of scissors. Repeat the process using a second false eyelash strip and checking it against your other eye. Cut the second strip just as you did the first.

Step 4

Apply a thin strip of eyelash adhesive along the back of one of the eyelash strips, right along the lash band. Squeeze the adhesive out of the tube sparingly, using no more adhesive than it takes to coat the lash band.

Step 5

Give the adhesive on the fake lash a chance to get tacky before sticking it to your eye. This should take about 10 seconds or so.

Step 6

Press the lash band of the fake lashes against your natural lash line. Use your fingers to apply light pressure, working from the inner corner to the outer corner.

Step 7

Apply the adhesive to the second lash strip. Press the lash strip against the lash line of your other eye just as you did the other eye.
