Wildfire Erupts Near Getty Center in Los Angeles

A fast-moving brush fire threatened homes and the Getty Center art museum as it burned through acres of land near the 405 freeway today in Los Angeles.

Getty officials have voluntarily closed and evacuated the museum complex as the LAFD battles the blaze. By mid-afternoon, the fire was estimated to cover around 3 to 4 acres.

According to reports, windy and hot conditions were fanning the flames.

The California Highway Patrol reports that no freeway lanes have been closed, but closures could occur depending on the thickness of smoke in the area.

Los Angeles residents should be aware that the fire is expected to further slow rush-hour traffic in the already congested corridor.
