Ikea Recalls Millions of Blinds and Shades

Ikea is recalling 3.36 milions of blinds and shades after a boy nearly strangled on a cord. The recall covers three styles of shades: Roman shades, roll-up blinds and roller blinds that don't have certain tension devices.The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall Thursday after receiving a new report of a 1-year-old boy in Lowell, Mass., who nearly strangled. For young children, the recalled blinds are dangerous because they can become entangled in the cords. In the Ikea roll up blinds, a child's neck can become caught if the adjustment slides off the blind. Ikea was going to voluntary recall the Roman shades and roll- up blinds after millions of shades were recalled due to nearly five deaths and 16 near strangulations.
