3rd Anniversary Ideas

October 11, 2009 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

By your third wedding anniversary, you have probably figured out what kind of gifts your partner appreciates. While this makes it easier to make a list of gift ideas, settling on that one special anniversary gift could still be difficult. Following are some ideas to celebrate your third anniversary that will help make it memorable.

Traditional

Leather is the traditional material associated with the third anniversary, and there are plenty of leather gifts to choose from. Women may appreciate a purse, bag, pair of boots, belt, diary, jacket or watch. A wallet, belt, briefcase, recliner or shoes are sure to win a man’s heart. Or you could buy something that you both can enjoy for years to come such as a couch for your living room, a leather photo album or a luggage set. Add a personal touch by engraving your leather gifts or by creating a leather memory book.

Modern

For a more contemporary touch, choose a crystal or glass gift for your third anniversary. Splurge on genuine crystal, goblets, wine glasses, figurines, vases or sparkling jewelry. Or you could buy something functional that will also enrich your space such as a crystal chandelier. If you entertain a lot, a large crystal serving bowl, preferably with a lazy Susan, may be perfect. And you could inaugurate it at your third anniversary party.

The “Three” Theme

Whatever type of gift you choose, there is one theme you cannot go wrong with for your third anniversary celebrations–the “three” theme. You could choose to do three special things in your anniversary week. Or go on a three-day vacation or cruise. You could give a ring or necklace with three stones, a chandelier with three tiers, a crystal or leather photo frame with three picture holders representing the best moments from your first three years, three crystal roses in a vase, a bracelet or necklace with three crystal beads, or a three-leaf pendant. Also, by the time you celebrate your third anniversary, you will have crossed the one thousand day mark with your loved one. So you could celebrate your life together with a poem titled “One Thousand Reasons I Love You.”
