Soften Your Feet With a Foot Scrub

There is hardly anything worse than slipping dry, cracked, scaly feet into a new pair of summer sandals. After a long winter, your feet need some pampering. They have spent the last months trapped in heavy socks and shoes, absent from sunlight and fresh air. To pamper, soften and bring the skin of your feet back to life, take some time for a foot scrub. Your feet and your special someone will thank you.

Step 1

Purchase or make your own foot scrub. You can find commercial foot scrubs at most drugstores and department stores, or you can make your own by adding 1? cups of coarse sea salt to ? cup of almond or olive oil. You can also add essential oils for fragrance.

Step 2

Soak your feet. Add some Epsom salts to warm water and soak your feet for about 10 minutes. If you really want to feel pampered, add some marbles to the bottom of the basin or tub and run your feet over them as they soak.

Step 3

Scrub your feet. Take one foot out of the soak and gently scrub it all over, in a circular motion, with the foot scrub. Repeat with the other foot. This will exfoliate the skin and remove the dry, flaky dead skin from your feet.

Step 4

Moisturize. Rinse and pat dry your feet. While your feet are still moist, generously apply moisturizing lotion to them. Immediately put on cotton socks to help hold in the moisturizer. Wear socks for a few hours or overnight, if you are doing your foot scrub in the evening.

Warnings

  • Be gentle when applying the foot scrub. Exfoliation doesn’t require hard rubbing. Rubbing the foot scrub into the skin too hard may damage the skin.
