Removing Facial Hair

For many women, a good strong beard on a man is very attractive; however, when that beard or mustache appears on the woman’s face, it is anything but nice looking. As women age, they often notice an increased amount of facial hair when they look in the mirror. Several medical conditions can also cause facial hair to grow even in younger women. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to remove unwanted facial hair.

Step 1

Ask your doctor to prescribe a depilatory cream that you can apply at home. While they are caustic and should only be used on facial areas away from the eyes, they are effective in discouraging the growth of facial hair.

Step 2

Have an electrolysis procedure performed. While it can take several treatments to remove all of your unwanted facial hair, it provides a permanent solution.

Step 3

Wax the facial hair off. You can choose to have this done professionally, or you can do it yourself at home. When you go to a salon to have it done, the beautician will apply a thin layer of warm wax on the area of your face that has hair. The wax will cool in a matter of minutes, and she will rip it away from your face, pulling the hairs out with it. She will then apply a soothing ointment to the area to protect your skin.

If you choose to buy a kit at the store and do it yourself at home, you will need to place the wax on the hair area, stroking it in the same direction of hair growth and then rip it away from the growth direction.

Step 4

Pay a professional for laser removal. Laser removal is less painful than electrolysis while providing the same benefit in that it is a permanent solution.

Step 5

Bleach hair that you cannot have removed. Bleaching facial hair will lighten it and reduce its visibility.
