Weight loss foods get a bad reputation and are often considered tasteless and unappetizing, but the truth is, you don’t have to punish your taste buds to lose weight. Stay motivated to get fit by enjoying delicious, palette-pleasing foods that promote weight loss.

Start Your Day with Eggs

Start the morning with an egg and look forward to satisfying your appetite longer, and snacking less during the early morning. Eggs are packed with 5 to 6 grams of protein and Vitamin B12, which is known for breaking down fat cells. Whether boiled, scrambled or poached, eggs are a delicious weight loss food you can incorporate in your diet. During the weekend, when you have more time in the morning, get creative and make an omelet filled with your favorite vegetables. The Mayo Clinic suggests that if you eat an egg a day, you should limit your cholesterol intake from other foods. The Mayo Clinic also recommends that you opt for egg whites or cholesterol-free egg substitutes.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are chock-full of vitamins and nutrients that are essential to weight loss. Eat five colors a day: blue, yellow, green, orange and red to incorporate variety in your weight loss plan. “Blue” options include blueberries, eggplant and grapes. “Yellow” options include lemon, bananas and pineapples. Cover “green” with vegetables like spinach and asparagus. “Orange” can include carrots, mangoes and squash, while red may include strawberries or beets.

Add Fiber for Appetite Control

High-fiber cereals are more than just a breakfast favorite. Sprinkle them on yogurt or eat them by the handful as a snack. Savory Soups for Lunch and Dinner

From vegetable soup filled with a variety of flavorful vegetables to simpler variations like tomato soup, enjoying a warm bowl of soup for lunch or dinner can contribute to your weight loss. Avoid creamy soups, but try recipes for cabbage, chicken noodle, french onion and black bean soups.

Enjoy a Healthy, Frozen Treat

Available in a variety of flavors like mango, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla, fat-free frozen yogurt is a healthy alternative to creamy ice cream filled with fat, sugar and calories. Select varieties with high levels of calcium and protein. Personalize a frozen yogurt treat by adding healthy toppings, like fresh fruit and nuts.
