Petite Fashion Tips

If you are tired of everyone telling you how cute and tiny you are, you may be in that bittersweet category of petite. Your spouse and family may love you for your small frame, but you might be wishing for just a day in a full-grown body. Don’t despair. Clothes are available that can flatter your little frame and help you feel–and look–like an adult.

Go There

Shopping in the kid’s section can get a little old. A whole section of women’s clothes exists just for you–the petite section. You may be almost as tall as your friends and in denial that this section even exists, but this clothing is made and designed specifically for you and your smaller frame. These clothes aren’t just smaller; they are proportionally correct. You will find smaller bust lines so your girls don’t have to float around inside your blouse. Dresses and two-piece outfits are designed specifically to fit your entire petite frame. Keep in mind that if your legs or torso are regular-sized, you may want to shop in two sections. Go to the petite section especially for the items you need, for the part of your body that is petite.

Draw a Line

If you are lacking height, give your audience the illusion of a long straight line when they look at you. Wear similar colors from head to toe to give yourself the look of a line. Make a dramatic statement at one end of your line, such as with a hat, earrings or shoes. When others look at you, it will encourage them to follow the line with their eyes. Use solid colors or vertical lines to create that look. Patterns encourage eyes to pop all over you. Avoid belts or other items that might cut your line in half.

Flaunt It

Covering yourself from head to toe emphasizes the idea that you are a little body in a lot of fabric. Show some skin to give the illusion that you have a great deal of it to flaunt. Wear a V-neck that shows some skin on your neck and chest, which will lengthen your torso. Put on some heels and a short skirt that flows around you. The heels will add height; the fun skirt will make your legs look longer.
