Teen Clothing Fashion Tips

Navigating the ever-changing world of teen fashion can be quite a challenge. As a teen, selecting clothing that reflects your personality is one way to convey your personality in a visible manner. While there is no right or wrong way to dress, you can do some simple things to ensure that you don’t make a major fashion faux pas while experimenting with your special look.

Spend Less, Buy More

If you’re like most teens, your fashion desires change from one minute to the next. Don’t spend big bucks on something that you are only going to wear once or twice before deciding it’s just not for you. Instead, shop inexpensive teen clothing retailers, such as Target, Claire’s or Forever 21, or pick up gently used duds at thrift stores or teen exchange shops, like Plato’s Closet. The less you spend on each garment, the more you can afford to buy and the more eclectic your wardrobe can become.

Invest in Good Jeans

If you are going to put a large amount of money into one garment, make that garment a pair of jeans. Jeans can be dressed up or down and worn with nearly any outfit. A good pair of jeans is a wise investment as you will likely wear the trusty trousers until the denim wears thin.

Jazz It Up with Leg Wear

Stick some leg wear beneath an old outfit to give it a whole new look. A flashy pair of printed tights or a standard pair of leggings can add some flair to any garment. Buy an assortment of bold print tights or leggings and mix and match your garments to create an array of interesting and exciting looks.

Wear Outlandish Shoes

Trade your own tennis shoes for an unexpected set of footwear. Don some rubber rain boots with a bold print to really make a splash. Slip on a set of silky smooth ballet flats for a comfortable, yet formal, look. Strap on a pair of sandals to let your polished tootsies show. Your shoes can play an important part in setting the tone of your outfit. If you want to make a fashion-forward impression, wear a pair that makes an original statement.

Change It Up with Accessories

Your clothes are only half the fashion picture. Well-picked accessories also speak volumes. Gather a collection of necklaces, bracelets, rings and belts. Mix and match these accessories with different wardrobe pieces. Try to buy accessories that are distinctive of each other. After all, there is no point to having the same necklace in 14 colors, regardless of how much you may love it. Instead, buy uncommon accessories that you can add to any outfit to give the look some pizazz.
