Dress-Up & Makeup Games

June 24, 2010 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

If you are planning a birthday party or sleepover for your little lady, coming up with games and activities that she and her guests can enjoy during the party can be difficult. Dress-up and makeup games, however, can help the girls use their imaginations, get to learn about each other and have fun, all at the same time.

Day at the Spa

Plan a spa theme party for your daughter and her friends. Assign attendees various roles held within a typical spa. Give customers white robes and slippers to wear during their visit. Equip the front desk receptionist with a headset and clipboard to keep track of appointments. The manicurist could wear a smock filled with a nail file, cotton balls and assorted nail colors. Use this game to teach children about different careers within a spa setting and proper etiquette when visiting a spa as a client.

Makeover Mania

Visit your local discount store and pick up a variety of makeup products, such as blushes, eye shadows, lip glosses and assorted body glitter. Purchase brushes the girls can use to apply makeup to each other. Ensure that each attendee gets her own mascara. During the party, ask each girl to create a specific look according to your instructions. Sample looks might include: a rocker girl, prom queen and fashion model. Take a picture of each attendee in her “look” and have the guests (or birthday girl) select the winner.

Celebrity Look-Alike

For a Hollywood-themed party, invite each guest to come to the party dressed as her favorite celebrity. Instruct guests to find, and bring with them, a picture of their celebrity. Attendees should attempt to recreate the look in the picture as closely as possible. Take pictures of each guest during the party, post the pictures side-by-side with her celebrity, and have the birthday girl pick a winner.

Runway Girl

Set up a runway show in your living room, basement or even in the backyard. Ask parents, friends and neighbors to donate old clothes and accessories before the party. During the party, give each girl 10 minutes to create a fashion model look for the runway show. Select kid-friendly tunes to play during the show. As each “model” takes the runway, snap pictures to capture each look. Ask parents to act as judges. Select the best model, based on the outfit she selected and her walk.

Pajama Jam

Sleepovers gives pre-teens and teens a chance to gossip, watch movies, dance and enjoy snacks, all while wearing their favorite pajamas. During your daughter’s next sleepover, encourage invited guests to get creative by wearing their most fabulous pajamas to the party. Let guests decide whose pjs are the star of the night.
