Teenage Bedroom Styles

As a teen, your bedroom is a haven of privacy and an area all your own. This potentially private space allows you the opportunity to express your personality through interior decorating. How you opt to decorate your room speaks volumes about your interests and passions. When planning your decorating scheme, create an exciting and attractive room that truly reflects who you are.

Earthy Delight

Turn your bedroom into an ecological wonderland by prominently featuring earth tones throughout your decor. Seek natural materials that echo the textures of nature. Cover your walls in a cloud wall paper, or use your artistic skills to create a replica of a beautiful nature scene on one or more walls. Use artificial flower or grass arrangements to accentuate the theme and give your room a well-planned feel.

Pretty in Pink

Express your femininity by creating a decidedly pink boudoir. Cover your walls with pristine pink paint. Select bed linens and pillows in various shades of the feminine hue or with prints that feature pink tones. Place a throw rug on your floor to finish out the look and turn your boring bedroom into a paradise fit for a princess.

Sports Central

Don’t let your smelly gym socks be the only indication that an athlete inhabits your room. Instead, cover your walls with a sporty decor the reflects your passion for competition. Paint your walls with the colors that represent your favorite team. To make your dedication even clearer, paint the team logo on a prominent wall. Gather posters or prints that depict athletes playing your sport of choice. Mount athletic equipment, such as baseball bats or hockey sticks, to your walls to finish off the look.

Art Central

While you probably cannot afford a studio space, you can turn your room into a world of artistic wonder. Paint your walls a neutral color so they serve as a good backdrop for your artistic creations. Frame some of your most prized works, and place them around the room. Purchase an old school easel and set it up near a window to capitalize off natural light. Set up a desk to fill with your paints, pencils and other necessary art tools. To truly convey your artistic skill, purchase a plain white comforter and use fabric paint to make it your own before spreading it across your bed.

Sophisticated and Simple

If you fancy yourself a mature teen, create a room that reflects this. Select a minimalist, sophisticated decor. Select a few dominant hues, such as brown and green, or tan and black. Cover your bed in crisp, clean linens with a clear geometric pattern. Paint one wall in your room with one of your selected tones, and leave the other white, or paint them a neutral hue. Look for furnishings and accents that are uncomplicated and predominantly plain, such as standard rectangular chests of drawers, or a square, wooden alarm clock.
