Fun Kid Games

Whether it is sitting around for a family game night, or sending the kids outside to play, tons of fun kids’ games are available to help you keep your children occupied and engaged for hours. When kids play games, in addition to having fun, they learn how to take turns, to solve small disputes and how to win and lose gracefully. If your children are looking for something to do, suggest a fun game to help them pass the time.

Board Games

In addition to classic board games, like Checkers, Sorry!, Boggle, Trouble and Memory, a number of other kids’ games are available. Preschool-aged children may enjoy playing easier board games, like Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land. Elementary school aged children may enjoy playing strategy board games, like Connect Four or Battleship, and older children and teens may enjoy playing more in-depth games, like Monopoly or Clue.

Video and Computer Games

You will find tons of options when it comes to fun kids’ games that are played on the screen. Preschool-aged children may enjoy playing video or computer games that star their favorite television characters, like Elmo or Arthur. The PBS Kids website has a host of preschool games that can be accessed free. Elementary school-aged children may enjoy games that can be played on their video consoles. Sports games, car racing games and classic arcade games, like Super Mario Brothers and Pac-Man, are perfect for that age group. As children get older, their video and computer game choices may point toward fighting and violence, so parents must monitor their children’s game choices carefully.

Outdoor Games

When playing outdoors, there are several fun games that kids may enjoy. In addition to playing a game of soccer or wiffle ball, kids may enjoy playing variations of tag, Capture the Flag or Red Rover. Younger children may enjoy playing Duck, Duck, Goose and Red Light, Green Light. Older children may enjoy going on backyard scavenger hunts or having relay races.

Indoor Games

In addition to board games, there are other fun kids’ games that children can enjoy playing indoors. If you have an open space, freeze dance, musical chairs and Hullabaloo are all fun kids’ games that can be played inside. If you are limited for space, card games, like Go Fish, Old Maid and I Spy, are fun to play.

Car Games

While riding in the car, there are several fun games that kids can enjoy. Magnetic travel games, like Checkers and Tic-Tac-Toe, can be fun for children to play in the backseat. You can also play the License Plate Game by printing off a U.S. map and giving the kids a crayon. Have them color in the state when they see a license plate from that state. The child who colors in most of the map by the end of the journey wins.
