Cool & Funky Hairstyles

The way you style your hair says a lot about your personality. If you are a funky person, with a quirky sense of style, wear your hair in a style that matches the way you feel on the inside. You can also try out a new, cool hairstyle anytime you want to change things up or step out on the town for a night.

Shag Hair Cut

Recall the 1970s by getting your hair cut into a shag. A primary feature of a shag hair cut is bangs that are shorter in the middle than on the sides. The U-shaped bangs will bring attention to your eyes and eyebrows, so make sure your brows are well kept. The rest of your hair will be cut short, around chin length, in the front and will fall to your shoulders in back. The unevenly cut layers of hair make the cut look funky and visually interesting without being sloppy. The hairstyle works best on women who have naturally straight hair. If your hair is curly or wavy, you may end up spending a lot of time taming the style every day.

Out of Control Curls

Curly hair that looks like it has a mind of its own complements a quirky and eccentric personality. The trick is to have your hair look out of control while doing everything you can to control it. If you prefer tight, springy curls, let them air dry after shampooing so that they hold their curl. Apply a frizz serum to curls with your fingertips and scrunch up a bit to style. You can wear your curls loose around your head or pull them up or back in a ponytail or with a large hair clip. If you want looser but still unruly curls, run mousse through your hair while dry, then use a wide curling iron to curl some of your hair.

Funky Updos

Add sparkling objects to an updo to give it a youthful, funky look. If you have long hair, pile it up into a loose or sleek bun and use chopsticks to hold it in place. You may also want to hold your hair up with a large butterfly or flower clip to give it some pizazz. If large hair accessories are not your style, try pulling your hair up at unusual angles. Instead of gathering your hair into a bun or ponytail all at once, grab individual sections and pull back to create a textured, loose updo. If you want an updo with a more youthful look, try pulling your hair into two small, separate buns.
