Brittany Murphy’s father spoke to the Associated Press Sunday after the shocking passing of his daughter.
Angelo Bertolotti learned of his daughter’s death from his son. He stated that he had not seen his daughter in the past few years. He and Murphy’s mother divorced when Brittany was very young. He did not have very much information about her passing.
Bertolotti said, “She was just an absolute doll since she was born.” He gushed that “her personality was always outward. Everybody loved her — people that made movies with her, people on a cruise — they all loved her. She was just a regular gal.”
According to the AP, Bertolotti was completely stunned by his daughter’s death. She was “very talented” he said, and “I loved her very much.”
Murphy’s mother, Sharon, whom Murphy earlier stated she owed her success to, has not yet made a statement. Her publicist, Nicole Perna, made a statement on the family’s behalf: “In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy.”
