Madonna Adoption Denied

Madonna’s request to adopt a second child from Malawi was rejected, according to her lawyer, Alan Chinula. The lawyer did not attend the hearing and would not comment further. According to a judge and lawyer present at the court hearing in Malawi, Madonna’s adoption request was not approved due to the country’s residency rules.

Prospective parents are required to live in Malawi for at least 18 months prior to adoption. This residency rule was waived for Madonna in 2006, when she brought David home from Africa.
