“Kitchen Sink” Salad Recipe

April 9, 2013 by Natalie Forte Leave a Comment

I always seem to find myself rummaging through my fridge and coming across sad-looking vegetables or half eaten pieces of fruit.

Since I hate wasting food and try to eat as many fruits and veggies as possible, I decided to throw “everything but the kitchen sink” into a bowl and make a salad.

There really isn’t recipe to follow, just simply, find what fruits/veggies/nuts/bean/protein/cheese you have leftover in your kitchen and throw it in a big bowl. Lunch or dinner is served!!!

Here’s what I usually have on hand:

  • Lettuce
  • Purple cabbage
  • Carrots
  • Celery
  • Cucumber
  • Apple
  • Avocado
  • Parsley or Cilantro
  • Walnuts or Almonds
  • Chicken/Hard Boiled Egg/Turkey (optional)
  • Black Beans (optional)
  • Feta or Goat Cheese (optional)
  • Tortilla Chips (crumbled- NOT optional)

Directions

Toss it all together and serve with your favorite dressing. Not only will you have a filling and healthy meal, but you will have used up some ingredients that may have otherwise been thrown out!
