Packing Tips for Disney World

The trip to Disney World is probably at the top of your family’s list of vacation destinations. If you don’t plan carefully, however, you can spend a lot of money. Make packing lists before your trip and take care to bring everything that you will need. This will ensure that your trip is as stress-free as possible.

Staying Hydrated

The hot Florida sun and a lot of walking make for the perfect situation for dehydration. If you buy drinks whenever you’re thirsty, though, the costs will add up. Instead, take along a reusable bottle on a strap. This allows you to carry the bottle with you easily wherever you go, and you can simply refill at the drinking fountains.

Labeling Your Items

If you lose an item inside the park, Disney staff members will try to return it to you if they know who it belongs to. You can increase your chances of getting items back by labeling items with your name and phone number or address.

Good Shoes

You will do a lot of walking at Disney, so it’s essential to pack a good pair of shoes. Don’t buy a new pair for your trip — you want something that’s supportive, but worn-in, as well. If you think that you might get blisters from all the walking, you can take preventive action by packing some plastic bandages. Covering blister-prone areas with duct tape can also prevent blisters.

Sunscreen

Even if you don’t burn easily, you should pack sunscreen for the family. You’ll be spending several hours in the sun, and a sunburn can ruin the rest of the trip. Don’t wait until you get to Disney, though. Purchase your sunscreen at a discount store outside the park or bring your own from home. Consider the type of sunscreen that’s colored so that you can be sure that you don’t miss a spot.

Food

You can pack your own meals and snacks to bring inside the park. Choose snacks that will provide steady energy, such as granola bars or trail mix. If you want to keep things cold without taking up space with an ice pack, you can freeze juice boxes or bottles of water. They’ll thaw by the time you are ready to eat and keep your food cold at the same time.

Kid Essentials

Make a list of everything your kids might need inside the park — and then bring extra of everything. This list will depend on the ages of your kids. Young children will need diapers and wipes and possibly bottles or pacifiers. Older children might need a change of clothes or a favorite toy. These types of products come at a high price inside the park, so you want to make sure to have everything with you.
