Tassimo Brewers Recalled For Burn Hazard

Nearly two million single cup coffee makers have been recalled by BSH Home Appliances due to burn hazards.

835,000 Tassimo Single-Cup Brewers were recalled in the US along with an additional 900,000 in Canada because the plastic disc that holds the coffee or tea can burst and spray hot liquid onto users.

So far, there have been 140 reports of the brewers spraying hot liquid, coffee grounds or tea leaves onto consumers, including 37 reports of second-degree burn injuries. In one incident, a 10-year-old girl from Minnesota had to be hospitalized after receiving second-degree burns on her face and neck.

The recalled products involve Tassimo brewers with the Bosch brand name and Tassimo Professional brewers. The Bosch-brand brewers were sold in black, white, anthracite, gray, silver, red, titanium and white/gray colors. The Tassimo Professional brewers were only sold in black.

They were sold at department stores and home improvement stores nationwide and on various websites (including www.tassimodirect.com) from June 2008 through February 2012 for between $100 and $250.

Consumers who have one of the recalled products should immediately stop using the brewer and contact the company to order a free replacement T Disc holder for the brewing mechanism.
