Make Your Own Delicious Salad Dressing!

Here are a few recipes for salad dressings that you can make yourself. Making your own salad dressing is a healthier option because who knows what kind of stuff they put in store-bought brands to increase their shelf life. And, if you already have most of the ingredients, you can definitely save some money too.

Thousand Island

3/4 cup mayonnaise,
1 Tbls sweet pickle relish or finely chopped sweet pickle,
2 Tbls chili sauce or ketchup,
2 Tbls finely chopped green bell pepper,
2 Tbls finely chopped onion,
1 Tbls lemon juice,
1/2 tsp sugar,
1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce,
1 hard cooked egg, chopped,
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, except egg. Stir in chopped egg last. Makes 1 1/3 cups.

Ranch

1 cup mayonnaise,
1 cup buttermilk,
2 Tbls finely chopped green onions (tops only),
1/4 tsp onion powder,
2 tsp minced parsley,
1/4 tsp garlit powder,
1/4 tsp paprika,
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper,
1/4 tsp salt,
1/4 black pepper.

Cucumber Buttermilk

1 cup buttermilk,
1/4 cup grated cucumber,
2 Tbls minced green onions (white & green parts),
1 Tbls dijon style mustard,
2 tsp minced fresh parsley,
2 tsp lemon juice,
1/4 tsp drilled dill,
1/4 tsp black pepper.

Sweet Tomato French

2.3 cup ketchup,
1/2 cup sugar,
2/3 cup vegetable oil,
1/2 cup red wine vinegar,
salt to taste,
1-2 cloves garlin,
2 Tbls minched onion.
Put in a jar and shake.

Italian Vinaigrette

1/2 cup red wine vinegar,
1 1/2 cups olice oil,
2 large cloves of garlic (crushed),
3/4 tsp salt,
1/4 to 1/2 tsp black pepper,
1 Tbls minced parsley,
1 tsp dry mustard,
1/2 tsp dried basil.
Put in a jar and shake.

Blue Cheese

4 cups mayonnaise,
1 cup buttermilk,
1 cup small curd cottage cheese,
1 tso worcestershire sauce,
1 tsp garlic salt,
1 tsp salt,
4 oz. blue cheese crumbled.

And Lastly, Croutons!

4 slices french bread,
2 Tbls parmesan cheese,
1/4 tsp oregano,
1/4 tsp celery salt,
1/4 tsp garlic salt,
2 Tbls salad oil,
Cut bread into cubes, add seasonings and oil. Toss to mix. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 300 degrees until crisp.
Store in a glass jar
