Former child star Mackenzie Phillips is no stranger to making headlines. When her interview with Oprah airs on Wednesday, what she has to say is bound to get people talking.
Phillips, daughter of John Phillips, founder of The Mamas & The Papas, dishes to the queen of talk about her latest memoir High On Arrival.
The actress has led a public battle with drug addiction, but the road
to her hard partying lifestyle was forged by none other than her own
father.
About her introduction to drugs, Phillips reveals in
her book, “My father shot me up for the first time. It seemed to be
the next logical
progression. I remember going into my room, I was crouched on the
floor…He put the needle in my arm and put the plunger in and he missed.
He missed the vein and my whole arm went numb.”
It gets worse. She also talks about how her father raped her.
“On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop
it,” Phillips wrote. “I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of
everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.
“My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and
he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find
myself having sex with my own father.”
