Tom Cruise Revamps Image on Oprah
Did anyone check out Tom Cruise’s two-episode special on Oprah last Friday and Monday? I saw a couple clips, namely Tom explaining the whole couch-jumping incident that occurred the last time he sat on Oprah’s couch. I found the celebudad to be down-to-earth and charming, especially when he addressed one of the reasons many fans have been turned-off by him—his comments about Brooke Shields’ post-partum depression during a TV interview in 2006.
Tom confessed to Oprah that he was “wrong” for attacking pal Brooke Shields and other new mothers who turn to medication to manage postpartum depression. During Friday’s segment, the dad of three said, “[My comments] came out wrong, it’s just not true. I was raised by four women who have children and babies. I’m not trying or want to tell anyone how to live their life or what they should believe or shouldn’t believe.” Tom continued to say he felt “pressed” by the media during that period of time, and regrets saying (and doing) a lot of things on TV. He added, “I felt like I could’ve handled it better.” As for the couch jumping incident, Tom said that if he knew what an uproar it would cause, he would have thought twice before climbing up on the yellow sofa.
What do you think of Tom Cruise now? Has he lost his charm or risen above the recent gossip about his life and relationship with Katie Holmes?
