Celine Dion “Going Crazy” Over Baby Naming

Celine Dion reveals to the French magazine Gala that the her and hubby Rene Angelil had been “going a little bit crazy trying to decide” on baby name. They struggled as Celine’s mother insisted on French names while her eldest son, Réne-Charles, was pushing for American names.

But, several days after their birth, Celine and Rene have finally chosen baby names for their twin boys — Eddy and Nelson.

The name Eddy comes from Eddy Marnay, the producer of Celine’s first five records. “He was like a father to her,” says Dion’s rep. “Eddy is a major influence in both Céline and René’s lives.”

And the name Nelson is inspired by Nelson Mandela, who Celine met several years ago. “René said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is,” says the rep.

“Céline and René want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men,” adds the rep.
