Kimberly Stewart And Benicio Del Toro Welcome Baby Girl

August 22, 2011 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Like mother, like daughter – Kimberly Stewart gave birth to a little girl named Delilah on Sunday, which was also her own 32nd birthday. The baby’s father, actor Benicio del Toro was present in the delivery room, although the pair are no longer romantically involved.

Not only is it the first child for both Stewart and del Toro, it’s also the first grandchild for Kim’s father, rock legend Rod Stewart. “My joy is indescribable,” he said, calling it one of the happiest days of his life. The baby was 22 inches long and weighed in at 8 lbs 9 oz.

It was a full crowd at the hospital, with the entire Stewart clan showing up to visit the family’s newest arrival. In addition to Kimberly’s brother Sean and half-siblings Ashley, Ruby, Renee, Liam and Alastair, both her mom Alana Collins and her stepmother Penny Lancaster-Stewart were in attendance.

The pregnancy was announced back in April, with del Toro’s rep confirming at that time that “Kimberly is pregnant. Benicio is the father and is very supportive. Although they are not a couple, they are looking forward to the arrival of the baby.”

The 44-year-old actor is best known for his Oscar-winning performance in the 2000 film “Traffic” as well as his roles in “The Usual Suspects” and “Sin City.” Kimberly Stewart has worked as an actress and a model.

It’s been an exciting year for Rod Stewart, not only is he a new grandfather but he’s also a new father. His wife gave birth to their second son (and Stewart’s , Aiden, in February.
