It looks like Posh Spice is going to have to retire her beloved stilettos – at least temporarily. Doctors have given Victoria Beckham strict orders to stop wearing her favorite sky-high footwear while she recovers from a back injury.
The 37-year-old suffered a slipped disc during the birth of her new baby daughter, Harper Seven, who was born in early July. As a result, she has been instructed to stay off her feet, avoid heavy lifting, and most of all, skip the stilettos. A slipped disc, often caused by the normal wear and tear of bending over or lifting things, is a common problem for pregnant women, who are carrying extra weight.
It’s terrible timing, as Beckham is slated to show off her new line, “Victoria,” at New York Fashion Week in early September. The renowned fashionista is reportedly not thrilled at the thought of wearing flat shoes to an international fashion showcase. After all, this is a woman who once insisted that she “just can’t concentrate in flats.”
According to the Mirror, renowned designers Christian Louboutin and Roger Vivier have been tapped to create some suitably glamorous flat footwear.
In the meantime, Beckham is resting at home in Malibu with her family – hubby David Beckham, little Harper and the couple’s three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. She thanked her fans for their support via Twitter on Friday, saying “Thank u for your kind messages. I’m feeling much better and enjoying every precious minute with baby Harper. I’m so in love. X VB.”
