Justin Bieber Takes Paternity Test

November 22, 2011 by ModernMom Staff Leave a Comment

Even though the paternity suit against him was dropped last week, Justin Bieber has taken a paternity test to prove that he’s not the father of Mariah Yeater’s baby, TMZ reports.

In October, Yeater, 20, told Star magazine that she had sex with the 17-year-old pop star after a concert last year and claimed that Bieber was the father of her now four-month-old son.

Adding to the drama is the fact that Bieber would have been 16 at the time of the supposed encounter, and the age of consent in California is 18.

The singer has adamantly denied all of the allegations and maintained that he’s never met the California woman and Yeater has since dropped the paternity suit. But Team Bieber wants to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he’s not the father so he took a DNA test on Friday in New Jersey under “very controlled circumstances.” All that’s left is for Yeater to provide DNA from the baby.

“At the end of the day, we could shy away from it,” said Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun in an interview with Extra. “But I think it’s important not only for [Bieber] but for all the people in his position to make a statement that it’s not cool,” he continued.

“He’s trying to be a role model and you’re not going to come in and just slander him and walk away and everything’s fine … We’re going to let people know that if we have to defend ourselves, there’s going to be consequences to their actions.”

What do you think?
