Amy Poehler and Will Arnett are Splitting Up
Well, it’s been a rough week.
Scientist found out that rosacea may be caused by tiny bugs that explode on your face. Judy Blume has breast cancer. Cats are jerks.
And now, the news that Amy Poehler and Will Arnett are splitting up.
The comedy couple has separated after nine years of marriage, a rep for the couple confirmed to several media sources.
Poehler, 40, and Arnett, 42, started dating back in 2000 and tied the knot in 2003. They have two young sons – Archie, 3, and Abel, 2.
And their partnership didn’t stop at their personal lives. In the past decade, they’ve worked together several times: Poehler played wife to Arnett’s G.O.B. Bluth character on “Arrested Development, they starred as brother and sister figure skaters in 2007’s “Blades of Glory,” and Arnett guest starred on Poehler’s hit sitcom “Parks and Recreation.”
I know it’s silly to be sad about the end of relationship between people I don’t even really know. But I am.
The Poehler-Arnett union seemed like one of those rare Hollywood marriages that would actually go the distance.
(Not to mention they’re two of my absolute favorite comedians in the world.)
I’m taking a little comfort in the fact that I’m not the only person shattered by the breakup. Twitter is right there with me, sitting on the couch in pajamas eating ice cream from the carton.
“Amy Poehler and Will Arnett are separating because love doesn’t exist. God made it up. Neat joke, God” – @Gawker

“Amy Poehler and Will Arnett split. I want to punch this day in the face” – @TheBloggers
Sigh.
Here’s a clip of them doing an interview together back in 2008:
