The “Hot in Herre” rapper, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes, was detained in West Texas on Wednesday night after cops at a border patrol checkpoint found drugs on his tour bus.
According to authorities, an initial search turned up small amounts of marijuana and heroin as well as a loaded gun.
A second search uncovered a duffel bag with about 10 pounds of pot.
The 37-year-old Grammy winner was riding with six other people at the time, all were initially detained. Hudspeth County sheriff’s officials said the one man confessed that the drugs and gun were his and was subsequently placed under arrest.
Nelly and the rest of the passengers were then released.
He’s not the first celebrity to be busted at this particular checkpoint – last month, Fiona Apple was arrested after police found .01 lbs. of marijuana and .010 lbs. of hashish on her tour bus.
