For the Love of Change

Why is it that change, even when it is good change, can be so uncomfortable?  Change inevitably brings with it many new obstacles and challenges to overcome.  The good thing is change makes life exciting.

You never quit feel your breath the same way you do when you are on the verge of change.  The excitement, the nervousness, the unknown, all makes you feel alive.  It is a roller coaster of emotions from highs of enthusiasm and anticipation, to lows and moments of worry or stress.

There are moments when life can seem quiet and comfortable, and there is peace and serenity that can be found and enjoyed in these times.  As you continue traveling along your journey, the ride that is your life runs into times of change, sometimes unexpected, sometimes planned, but nerve-racking nonetheless.  If you embrace these times you may find yourself enjoying the ride even more.  I believe it is possible to learn to love and find joy in moments of calm serenity, as well as adapt and let the roller coaster of emotion in the often seemingly fast-past times of change give you great excitement and happiness too.

Our lives never stay quiet and calm, or on the edge of your seat exciting all the time.  There are moments and times of both.  Life can be enjoyed and treasured through both.  Keeping perspective of the big picture and who you are deep down at your roots gives you a sense of being grounded no matter what your life currently entails.

One thing I have embraced in my life is not letting the fear of change keep me from moving in the direction I want to go.  Had I let this fear paralyze me, moving from New York to British Columbia never would have happened.  I have so much to be grateful for in this time of change, my husband, and my beautiful children.  Don’t let the fear of change keep you from the great happiness that this very change can create in your life.

Time ticks by so very fast.  In my opinion it is not worth it to let the fear of change keep you from living your life to the fullest.  It is OK to be scared; in fact in the long run change may feel even more rewarding with the range of emotions it brings.

Whether it is buying a home, moving locations, taking a new job, starting your own business, or sending your child off to a new school, I believe the key to enjoying life is to focus on what you love about both the quiet and the tumultuous times in life.  The only guarantee is that there will both in your life, and you deserve the happiness and love that exists no matter what part of the ride you are on.

What about you?  Do you find change really scary and try to avoid it, or are you a lover of change and trying new things?
