Fake Eyelash Tips
Fake eyelashes can add significant drama to your look or gently emphasize your eyes. With practice, it’s easy to apply eyelashes at home for a natural or bold and playful style. Good quality fake eyelashes can be used over and over, making them a valuable addition to your makeup bag for an evening look that can’t be beat.
Types
You can choose individual false eyelashes, a strip of lashes, or professional eyelash extensions. Eyelash extensions require an expensive visit to the salon, but last several weeks. Lash extensions adhere to individual lashes to add length. You can apply false eyelashes at home using eyelash glue, whether you opt for just a few single lashes or a full strip. Styles vary, and all can be trimmed at home to create a custom look for your eyes.
Applying Individual Lashes
Individual false eyelashes can add drama to your eyes or create a lush lash line if your natural lashes are short or light. Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler, then place a drop of eyelash glue on the back of your hand. Hold the individual lashes with tweezers, dipping the base of each lash into the glue. Place the lash onto the eyelid, along your natural eyelash line. Use longer lashes at the outer corners and shorter ones toward the center and inner corner.
Using Lash Strips
Complete strips of eyelashes are a faster option to emphasize your eyelashes. Hold the strip against your eyelid to make sure it is the appropriate length and trim from the inner corner if necessary. Line your upper eyelid and gently smudge the liner before applying eyelashes. Use a toothpick to apply clear eyelash glue along the strip, then press it into place as close to your natural eyelashes as possible; keep pressing to hold it in place for several seconds. With an eyelash curler, curl both your natural eyelashes and the fake eyelashes and apply mascara.
Makeup
While you should apply your eyeliner before your eyelashes, you can apply the rest of your makeup before or after, as you choose. Opt for just a single light shimmery color with dark liner and long false eyelashes for an eye that works well with a bold and bright lip. Wear a smokey eye in neutral shades or a pop of color, like plum, with long, thick lashes and a neutral lip for evening drama.
Removal
Use a mineral oil-based makeup remover to remove your false eyelashes. Saturate a cotton ball, then hold against the lashes. Lift the individual false eyelashes or strip of lashes away from your eyelid slowly and gently, then clean off adhesive residue if you plan to re-use your eyelashes. If you have eyelash extensions, avoid using oil-based makeup removers or products. Your salon can remove your lash extensions if you choose not to maintain them.
