How will the pandemic change you?

April 2, 2020 by D.M. Simmons

pandemic change you

Growing up, I spent a lot of time at my grandparents’ house. They lived about 10 minutes away and their place was my second home. I went there after school as a kid, and in high school, nearly every night to call my friends who lived in their phone prefix. In those days, long-distance was real AF and we didn’t have Facebook or texting. We didn’t get to speak until the next day … [Read more...] about How will the pandemic change you?

The Indelible Imprint of Icons on The Heart – RIP Prince

April 24, 2016 by D.M. Simmons Leave a Comment

In recent months, whenever an icon passes, social media mourns. Conversation around said artist is non-stop; memories shared and confessions revealed. The passing of music legend Prince was a … [Read more...] about The Indelible Imprint of Icons on The Heart – RIP Prince

Be Kind. Be Human.

And yet there it was, death — a little too close to home, hard to process, making my head spin. But while my head reeled from the sudden and tragic loss of one — in my soul’s numbness of aching for a little … [Read more...] about Be Kind. Be Human.

Last week the Butte Fire in Amador and Calaveras counties ravaged my hometown communities. Calaveras took the biggest beating, with many of the 75,000 acres burned and 545 residences/356 outbuildings lost, in that county. County lines have all but diminished however, with families and local businesses from both pulling together to help those impacted by the fire. I couldn’t be … [Read more...] about Help Care For Animals Injured By Fire

Take Time to Stop and Smell the Flowers

September 2, 2015 by D.M. Simmons Leave a Comment

We never stop. We’re always going, going, going. We conduct conference calls while getting dressed in the morning, check email at night, and work on the weekends to make sure we stay on top of it all.  Add kids to the picture and the so-called balance we claim to work for gets, well, further off balance. Our days then begin by scrolling through email first thing in the … [Read more...] about Take Time to Stop and Smell the Flowers
