Spring’s Hottest Footwear Trend: The Flatform
One of footwear’s biggest (and most practical) trends for Spring 2011 is the flatform – a style of shoe that adds inches but is essentially flat, is a departure from the ankle surgery-inducing stilettos of the past few seasons, and doesn’t come with a two-drink maximum.
Valentine’s Day Fashion Picks
This Valentine’s Day, shake up that tired flowers-and-chocolate combo and score something fabulous that will last all year long. I’ve put together a list of my own fashion-inspiredValentine’s Day pairings that will make this Valentine’s Day one to remember. For a casual ensemble, I love these pink Hunter rain boots paired with skinny jeans and a cute tee, like the one shown from Proenza Schouler. Hunter rain boots, $87.50
Fashion Friday: A Structured Bag for Every Budget
This season, the hippest handbag shape is square. Labels such as Proenza Schouler, Lanvin and Valentino all sent this more serious, uptown style down the runways. Valentino black briefcase bag, $1995 Proenza Schouler medium leather saddle bag, $1595 MCM First Lady vintage leather bag, $740 Rebecca Minkoff Morning After …
Celebrity Fashion Friday
One of my favorite trends for spring is the draped wrap skirt, sometimes called a tulip skirt. This is a figure-flattering silhouette that works for most body types, and I love the elegant detail that the draped fabric creates. So try something new–instead of sticking to your tried-and-true pencil or A-line skirts, I suggest investing in a drape-y style. While it’s still cold out, wear it with high boots or opaque tights and heels.
Nothing to Wear? Here’s Help
As a mom, there are a lot of days when you look in the closet and see nothing to wear. You probably spend so much time getting your kids dressed, doing incessant loads of laundry, and trying to keep them from creating even more laundry, that you don’t have as much time to think about your own wardrobe as you used to. Whenever I feel like this, I revert to my fool-proof outfit: a pair of jeans and a tee. But instead of stopping there, I dress it up with statement jewelry, like an oversize necklace and a stack of bracelets.
