Short Hairstyles for Older Women With Glasses

January 25, 2011 by ds_11119 Leave a Comment

Short hair is practical, easy care and shows off your best features. If you wear glasses, matching your eyeglasses and your hair in style and proportion can create a polished appearance that draws attention to your pretty eyes and radiant face. As you age, keeping your look modern is essential to avoid looking dated or older than your years.

The Pixie

Whether you have wide frames or wear smaller frames, a super-short pixie crop works well to mesh your hairstyle and eyeglasses. This cut is close to the head on the sides and back. It can be super short through the crown and bangs or have a bit more length. If you do opt for longer bangs, blow them to the side to keep them out of the way of your glasses. A super-short style is ideal if you favor brightly colored or trendy glasses. They won’t work as well if you opt for a very large frame, as it can overwhelm a close-cropped gamine hairstyle.

The Bob

Bobs are blunt cut styles, ranging from chin to shoulder length, worn with or without bangs. Simple round or square glasses will look classic, while a bold or bright frame can create a trendier look. If you change your glasses frequently, or switch between glasses and contact lenses, a basic bob works with all of them. Choose a medium-sized eyeglass frame if you wear a bob, as small frames and a straight bob can box in your face, making it look smaller than it is.

The Shag

The shag is a layered cut with volume and length through the crown and bangs. The cut sits close to the head through the ears and nape and can be worn fairly short or a bit longer. This wearable style meshes well with wider eyeglass frames and can support a bold color or a neutral frame. Consider leaving more length and volume around the sides if you prefer a large eyeglass frame. If you have heavy bangs, you may want more a thinner or lighter colored frame.
