10 Fast and Free Exercises For Busy Moms

August 30, 2016 by Stacie Mahoe Leave a Comment

Two of the biggest reasons moms give for not exercising are, “I don’t have time” or “I don’t have money to join a gym or buy a fitness program.”But those “reasons” for not exercising are bogus and you know it!

In fact, I have a list of 10 simple exercises you can do practically anytime, anyplace and they don’t require very much equipment or space at all.

1. Jumping Jacks

2. Push Ups

3. Squats

4. Squat Jumps

5. Burpees

6. Planks or Bridges

7. Dips

8. Step Ups

9. High Knees in Place

10. Pull Ups

The fun thing is, you can use a few of these exercises in combination with each other and create fast, effective mini-workouts to get your sweat on at a time that’s convenient for you.  Here’s how!

5 Step to Creating Fast, Effective Mini-Workouts

Step 1: Choose four exercises from the list above for your mini-workout.

Step 2: Do a comfortably paced warm-up using your four exercises.  Do each exercise for about 15 seconds, rest for 15 seconds, then move on to the next one.  Once you’ve done 4 different exercises, your blood should be flowing and your body should be nice and warm.

Step 3: Start your actual workout with the first excerise you chose and pump out as many reps as you can in 10-20 seconds then rest for 10-20 seconds.  Your total time for one exercise and one rest period should be 30 seconds (i.e. 10 exercising and 20 resting, 15 exercising and 15 resting, 20 exercising and 10 resting).

Step 4: Move on to the next exercise and repeat until you’ve gone through all four of the exercises you chose.

Step 5: Complete a minimum of two rounds (you can do more if you want) and you’re done!

That’s it.  Simple, fast, free, and effective. There’s no excuse for not doing something to get your blood flowing today.  If you have time to check out or post status updates on Facebook, watch a tv show, play silly games like temple run or words with friends on your phone (or read blog posts here at ModernMom) you have time to workout.  And money is not an issue if you follow the steps shared above.

No more excuses!  Step away from the computer, get off your booty, and get moving.  You’ll be glad you did. 🙂
