Kraft Foods Issues Recall for Velveeta Cheese Sold at Walmart

Velveeta cheese sold in Walmart stores mostly in the Midwest has been recalled by Kraft Foods, Inc.  According to the company, the cheese does not have enough sorbic acid (a natural preservative) and could spoil before the expiration date.

The chance for consumers to get food poisoning prompted the company to issue the recall.  No one has reported illness yet.

Affected Velveeta carries the product number #021000611614, and was sold in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.  The packages have the date stamp “17 DEC 2014” with a timeframe from 10:54 to 14:35.

Consumers are urged not to eat the affected Velveeta, and to return it to the store it was purchased from for a refund or exchange.  For further information Kraft Foods Consumer Relations can be contacted at 1-800-816-9432 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET.
