Last month I posted some items you could make at home to help save money, i.e. baby wipes. Well, with summer in full swing here are a few items you can make so you and your kids can have some summer fun.
Homemade Finger Paints
1/2 cup cornstarch
3 tbls sugar
2 cups cold water
Soak gelatin in 1/4 cup warm water and put aside.
In a medium saucepan combine cornstarch and sugar. Gradually add water and cook slowly over low heat, stirring until well blended.
Remove from heat and add softened gelatin. Divide misture into separate contaienrs for each color.
For each color first add a drop or two of liquid detergent and then add food coloring a drop at a time until you have the shade you want
Store up to 6 weeks in the refrigerator.
9 parts water
1 part dishwashing liquid
1/2 part glycerin (can be found in most drugstores)
The longer you store the solution the better it works, so don’t tell your kids you are making it and let it sit some place for a few weeks.
Giant Bubble Maker
Save coffee cans. Cut off tops and bottoms. Hammer the edges smooth. Dip cans in a pan of bubble solution and wave through the air.
Have a great time this summer with the kids
