Healthy Snack Recipe: Balsamic Strawberries

June 15, 2013 by The Nutrition Twins Leave a Comment

If you’re like us, we’re always looking for quick, easy and healthy recipes that the whole family can enjoy.  And we really enjoy finding sweet, healthy treats that we don’t have to feel guilty about eating or giving to the kids.

We love these BALSAMIC STRAWBERRIES; they’re the perfect balance of sweet and sour.  They’re a wonderful healthy snack to satisfy all of those candy cravings without the added empty calories.

These are great to munch on as a cold snack on a warm day and they also are a delicious topping for any piece of cooked meat. So whatcha waiting for?- Go ahead and give ‘em a taste!

Balsamic Strawberries

  • 1 pound of fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 4 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of white sugar

Directions

After the strawberries are hulled and sliced, place them in a large bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and let sit for 5 minutes. Add balsamic vinegar and let sit in refrigerator for a minimum of 10 minutes.

For only about 60 calories and 2 grams of fiber per ½ cup, this is the perfect treat for a hot summer day!

Have you ever marinated strawberries? How do you do it?
