Nadya Suleman – who got her nickname after giving birth to octuplets in 2009 – says she’s getting death threats after the news broke that she will be receiving financial assistance from the state of California, TMZ reported.
The “Octomom” will receive $2,000 a month that can be used only on food, according to state laws.
But apparently not everyone is happy that the 36-year-old mom of 14 children is going on welfare. Suleman said she’s been inundated with a flood of hate mall, threatening phone calls and irate Facebook messages.
She told TMZ she believed she’d be on welfare for only a month or two, adding that critics should be lashing out at people who abuse the system, not at her.
Suleman, who previously swore she would never go on the dole, also posed topless for the UK magazine “Closer” last week, telling reporters that she stripped down in order to pay her bills.
“You wanna know how much I got? I got $8000. I have to do what I have to do to take care of my family, and I’m not ashamed at all … I’ve never sacrificed my morals and values,” she told CNN.
Her attorney Jeff Czech recently admitted that his client was in need of assistance, telling the Associated Press: “She’s not doing well. She’s struggling financially and she does whatever she can.”
