Sleepovers… Should You or Shouldn’t You?
Its the age-old question, but like most things in life, there simply isnt one right way to do things when it comes to our kids. Sleepovers can be a fun rite of childhood passage. Personally, I can remember some terrific (and safe!) slumber parties with my close friends. These experiences were part of a wonderful childhood, and many parents would like their own kids to be able to enjoy the same. Yet, sleepovers can also be a slippery slope just by their very nature, and its certainly appropriate for parents to have legitimate concerns. Weve all heard stories about children being molested while at a sleepover. And yet many other children will enjoy sleepovers without anything bad ever happening. Instead of offering one absolute about sleepovers, my perspective is sometimes yes and sometimes no.

Jack-O-Lantern Cupcake
Using candy to decorate seasonal goodies is a fun family activity and great way to add flare to your celebration. Turn your average cupcake into a Jack-O-Lantern. Start by baking and frosting a batch of 2 cupcakes. While you wait for the cupcakes to cool completely, wrangle up your favorite gum and candies. Gum is easy for kids to work because they can cut, twist and shape it to create patterns and details on your treats making them ready for display in the bakery window!
How to Make Candy Heart Magnets
Candy hearts are a Valentine’s Day classic, but you can use these tasty treats as more than just a snack. Using resin from your local craft store, you can create candy heart magnets using your favorite candies. Add magnets for a playful addition to your refrigerator or use your candy hearts to make jewelry, barrettes or other accessories. Setting candy into resin works for all sorts of small candies, so you can also make gummi bear magnets, M&M magnets or other crafts.
